D of E Bronze Expedition Training and other Activities
At the start of the October half term, seven Explorer scouts participated in the bronze expedition training. They started at Frensham Big pond and walked to Alice holt. They then done part of the orienteering course at Alice holt and after lunch walked to Camelsdale Scout H.Q. where they camped for two nights. On Sunday they practiced their map and compass skills on Marley during. On Sunday we went to Portsmouth for the evening and on Monday morning went to Grayshott golf driving range.

We meet at Camelsdale Scout H.Q. at 9.00am for the drive down to Ferny Croft scout campsite in the New Forest. As soon as we arrived on went the Rack sacks and off they went on a 11 mile hike. They arrived back at the campsite at 4.30pm and then put their tents up. Wednesday evening we drove to Calshot and had a look round the activities centre. On Thursday they had another ten mile hike and in the evening we took the ferry from Hythe over to Southampton for a walk around the shopping centre and then back to the campsite for a campfire.
The London Trip 2005
During our annually trip to London, 21 Explorer Scouts and 4 leaders, took the train from Haslemere
Station to Waterloo Station. A short walk later we were at the first activity of the day, the enrolments of the new Explorer Scouts on the London Eye. We then walked to Covent Gardens to watch the street
entertainers and to have our packed lunch. After lunch we split into two groups, one group went to Oxford street for a bit of shopping, while the other group went and saw a bit of the Lord Mayor’s Show and then went to the Imperial War Museum. We all met up at 5pm to watch the Lord Mayor’s firework display on the River Thames. We finished of the day with something to eat and caught the train back to Haslemere.
The District trip to Haslemere Museum
