





District Explorers Trip to
Saturday 19th - Wednesday 30th August 2006
25 Explorer scouts and 7 leaders travelled to Switzerland for a fun pack 10 day expedition, staying at the Mountain Hostel in Grindlewald.

Saturday 19th - Sunday 20th
Coach left Haslemere at 3.30pm and travelled overnight and arrives at Grindelwald at 11am on Sunday 20th.
Monday 21st
Travelled to Interlaken for tandem paragliding and, in the afternoon walked, to Lake Brienz
Tueday 22nd
We took the world’s longest aerial gondola ride from Gindelwald to Männlichen, a cable car to Wengen and then went by train to Brienz. There we took a steam train up the Rothorn (7710 feet), and had lunch on top. On descending the Rothorn, back to Brienz, we took a paddle steamer trip back to Interlaken
Wednesday 23rd
White water rafting down the Lütschine River
In the evening some of the Explorers went up to a Street Party in Grindelwald
Thursday 24th
Travelled to Männlichen by gondola; walked to Kleine Scheidegg; train to Lauterbrunnen and then a bus to Trümmelbach Falls; a short walk and cable car ride to Mürren and then back to Grindelwald to celebrate Adam’s Birthday.
Friday 25th
Tobogganing at Pfingstegg followed by swimming and free time in the afternoon
